Feedback, Complaints and Improvement Suggestions

At times during your child’s journey at our school, you might have a question or concern that goes beyond what’s covered in regular communication such as parent meetings, school reports, or class updates. Most concerns are best addressed by making a time to speak directly with your child’s class or subject teacher. These conversations are most productive when held during a scheduled meeting, rather than at busy times like before or after school drop-off and pick-up. Once you have spoken to the classroom teacher, you can contact the office and speak to Paul or email Paul directly (paul.cronin@cewa.edu.au) if further follow up is needed.

In an effort toward continuous improvement, we also have a Feedback Complaints and Improvement Suggestions Box in the office that is available for students and parents. Entries can be anonymous if preferred. The Feedback, Complaints and Improvement Suggestions downloadable form can be found here.

Sometimes unresolved concerns may become a complaint and/or a dispute, and these are addressed with a formal process.  A complaint means an expression of dissatisfaction with our school services, decisions, actions or those of its staff, or about the complaint management process itself. A Dispute means a conflict regarding a right, claim, or demand on one side, met by contrary claims or allegations on the other.

Our school is committed to working with you to address your concerns in a prompt, visible and fair manner, where all parties are heard.  All complaints will be dealt with confidentially.

The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system.  Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint.  Information is available on the Department of Education website.  While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, they do not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.
