Welcome back to Term 2, how quickly the weeks of holidays have passed!
Welcome back to Term 2, how quickly the weeks of holidays have passed! I hope that all families had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday break. Staff and students returned on Tuesday and the transition was smooth. The children’s excitement in seeing friends and their teachers was contagious and the energy in the classrooms and the playground was a delight to see. I am sure that each one of them will approach the learning challenges of the term ahead with dedication and enthusiasm.
Thank you to students and parents in ensuring all returned well dressed in winter school uniform. There is a two week changeover period where students may wear either summer or winter uniform as the weather conditions are changeable at this time of year.
The Chrism Mass on Tuesday in Holy week was a special Mass for the students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. I was very pleased to hear that the small number of students and their parents who attended were captivated by the ritual and seeing the many priests of the Diocese on the Sanctuary. The oil of Chrism that was blessed by Bishop Gerard will be used during the Confirmation Mass.
Thank you to those students who represented St Mary’s at the ANZAC Day Mass at St Patrick’s as well as the Bunbury ANZAC Parade on Thursday. To those parents who brought their children to these two events, I am greatly appreciative of your support and commitment to the school and wider community.
Please keep Mrs Webb, the Year 4 students and their friends and families in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare for the reception of the blessed Eucharist for the first time.
On Tuesday next week we will celebrate the gift of Motherhood at our Mother’s Day Mass at 9am in the Chapel. Following Mass, the P & F will host St Mary’s annual Mother’s Day Morning Tea. Thanks to the planning and work of Pre Primary parents. We look forward to an enjoyable morning together. May you feel a great sense of achievement and satisfaction in the event you have
organised.
St Mary’s will be hosting Mrs Helen Rabjones in Year Three as she completes a teaching practice for the first four weeks of the term.
I wish all students and families a successful term and encourage all students to work hard and do their very best work at all times. Students from Pre Primary to Year 6 will receive Semester 1 formal reports at the end of the term.
